MOVING WCCUSD FORWARD: SUPPORT LIZ BLOCK, STEPHANIE HERNÁNDEZ-JARVIS FOR SCHOOL BOARD

Education Matters is excited to endorse Liz Block and Stephanie Hernández-Jarvis in the 2018 WCCUSD School Board race.

We urge you to support them within your networks, and encourage your community to vote for them on November 6th!

Current WCCUSD School Board Trustee Elizabeth Block

LIZ BLOCK  |  WCCUSD BOARD TRUSTEE

We proudly support incumbent and former board president Elizabeth “Liz” Block for a second term on the WCCUSD School Board.

Since her election in 2014, Trustee Block has proven her ability to move our district forward. During her first term, she secured a 15% raise for teachers, helped drive our progress toward a reformed bond program, and challenged the board to embrace transparency, fiscal responsibility, and data-driven strategies that will improve teaching and learning in every classroom in our district.

A former principal, Block’s leadership dramatically raised test scores at one of California’s lowest-performing schools. Her experience as a school psychologist strengthens her focus on school climate and social-emotional learning. She brings the experience, discipline and resolve that will keep WCCUSD moving in the right direction.

WCCUSD teacher Stephanie Hernández-Jarvis

STEPHANIE HERNÁNDEZ-JARVIS  |  WCCUSD TEACHER

We enthusiastically endorse Stephanie Hernández-Jarvis in her first campaign for WCCUSD School Board.

A current WCCUSD kindergarten teacher and parent, Hernández-Jarvis brings a unique and profound understanding of the needs of educators and families in our district. Her own educational journey through public education at every level—as an immigrant, English learner, and first-generation college student—has informed who she is as a parent, as an educator, and who she will be as a WCCUSD Board Trustee.

Hernández-Jarvis will bring a fresh perspective and a decisive viewpoint to the School Board. She offers a strong focus on education access, social justice, and improving district practices where they matter most: inside each and every classroom across West Contra Costa.
